Digital marketing for Melbourne small businesses

Wagging Tongue Marketing gets people talking. Then keeps them at it.

Wagging Tongue Marketing

We're a small studio based in St Kilda, run by two people and one very opinionated dog who thinks she's in charge and honestly, she probably is. Content audits, website restructures, copywriting, newsletters, web design and email marketing for small businesses and community groups across Melbourne who are good at what they do and want their marketing to show it.

§ About

A bit about us.

Real people, real experience. That's the advantage.

Between us we've spent decades in customer-facing roles across a stack of different industries. We built Wagging Tongue for the business owners who are flat out doing what they're good at and just need someone to handle the marketing.

§ Meet the team

Who we are. Cherie and Paul.

Ally, Chief Barketing Officer

Ally. 4 yrs

Chief Barketing Officer

Tongue out, unbothered, and brutally honest about which ideas are any good. Ally sits in on every brief, naps through every bad one, and somehow still has better instincts than most account directors.

Cherie.

Copy & customer experience

Cherie has spent years in knowledge management and customer experience, which is a fancy way of saying she knows what people want to hear and how to say it so they listen. She writes copy that doesn't sound like it was generated, templated, or written by someone who has never met a real customer. Which, frankly, is rarer than it should be. That background is why the audits and restructures work. Years spent sorting out messy content, making things easier to find and working out what belongs where now gets put to work for smaller sites.

Paul.

Strategy & commercial

Paul started with a toolbelt and ended up in the boardroom, which means he has genuinely zero patience for overcomplicated strategies that don't work in the real world. He has spent years in customer-facing and business consulting roles across industries most agencies have never set foot in. He brings the kind of commercial thinking that only comes from actually doing the work at every level. Also, he keeps Cherie's big ideas financially responsible. Someone has to.

§ Services

What we offer.

01

Content audit

Your website grew with your business. Which is a polite way of saying nobody's touched the About page since 2021. Pages got added, services shifted, old information hung around and now things are hard to find. A Content Audit sorts through the clutter and hands back a clear plan: what stays, what changes and what quietly goes.

02

Content restructure

Sometimes the content is worth keeping, it's just in all the wrong places. Repeated information, overloaded pages and menus that make people work too hard. A Content Restructure sorts out where everything lives, so the site makes sense as a whole, to you and to the people trying to use it.

03

Copywriting

You know what you want to say. Getting it onto the page without sounding stiff, vague or like everyone else is the hard part. Clear, natural copy that makes it easy for people to understand what you do, why it matters and what to do next.

Newsletters & publications

You've got stories worth telling. The hard bit is finding them, shaping them, and turning them into something people want to read. We help create newsletters and publications with a clear voice, useful structure and enough personality that they don't feel like another update from the committee.

Web design

A good website shouldn't make people hunt for answers. Clear navigation, useful content and a straightforward path to the next step matter just as much as how it looks. We build and refresh small business websites around what your customers need to find, and what you need them to do.

Email marketing

An email doesn't need to shout. It needs a reason to be opened, and something worth reading once it is. From one-off campaigns to regular customer emails, we help turn what you need to say into something people look forward to seeing in the inbox.

Not on the list?

Branding, identity and one-off design work still comes up now and then. . If we can do it, we will. If we can't, we'll tell you straight.

§ Local

Local at Heart. Marketing support from St Kilda to Melbourne and beyond.

Based in St Kilda, Wagging Tongue supports small businesses in St Kilda, St Kilda East, St Kilda West, Elwood, Balaclava, Windsor, Albert Park and across Melbourne. We help with content audits, website restructures, copywriting, newsletters, web design and email marketing. Practical support, not a big deck. The people doing the work are the people you talk to.

§ Why us

What you get
that you won't
get elsewhere.

01

You're good at what you do.

The marketing can be the bit that gets away from you. That's where we come in.

02

No fluff.

You tell us what you need. We do it. That's about the size of it.

03

You stay in your lane.

Run your business. We'll handle the stuff that keeps sliding down the to-do list.

04

Ally didn't choose the rescue life.

The rescue life chose her. She showed up, took over and has not looked back. Our Chief Barketing Officer.

§ FAQ

Read this
before
you ask.

The questions everyone asks before the first call.

What makes Wagging Tongue different?+

We've been your customer. For real. For decades. We know what it feels like to be ignored, over-promised and underdelivered. We just decided to fix it.

Does Wagging Tongue take briefs or write them?+

Both. Sometimes the best brief is just someone saying "something's not working and I don't know what."

What does Ally contribute?+

Honestly? Better instincts than most. She's never once pretended to like something she doesn't. We could learn from that.

Where is Wagging Tongue based?+

We're based in St Kilda, Melbourne. We work with small businesses across the inner suburbs · Elwood, Prahran, South Melbourne, Albert Park, Windsor, Balaclava and beyond. And because most of what we do is done remotely, we work with clients all over Australia. If you're a small business who needs their marketing sorted, we're your people.

I've got a site but I don't know what's wrong with it. Can you tell me?+

That's basically what a content audit is for. Send us the URL, we'll have a look and tell you if there's anything in it. No obligation, no hard sell.

§ Get in touch

Don't hold your tongue. Ask Ally.

We're easy to get hold of. Cherie and Paul check their messages. Ally checks the snack cupboard.
